A walk through Dunkirk Beach

Back in June (on my way back from a road trip to the Netherlands) I spent a couple of hours walking through Dunkirk, a place steeped in history, with my camera loaded with black and white HP5 film. There’s something about Dunkirk—the calm shoreline today, once a scene of unimaginable chaos during World War II. As I explored the beach, the old harbor, and the remnants of wartime structures, I wanted to capture not just the landscape but the weight of the past that still lingers here.

Choosing black and white film for this walk was intentional. With HP5's grainy texture and contrast, I aimed to strip the modern distractions and focus on the raw emotions of the place.
